All countries are categorised according to the credit risk they pose, consequently the categorisation is meant to reflect country risk. According to the OECD:  [C]ountry risk encompasses transfer and convertibility risk (i.e. the risk a government imposes capital or exchange controls that prevent an entity from converting local currency into foreign currency and/or transferring funds to creditors located outside the country) and cases of force majeure (e.g. war, expropriation, revolution, civil disturbance, floods, earthquakes).

April 5, 2017 – Upcoming Event!

DISCOVERING OPPORTUNITIES: HOW TO SOURCE, SHIP, & MARKET PHILIPPINE PRODUCTS

Now introducing… an event that is the first of its kind in the promoting of Philippine products in the United States and beyond. Organized by Pangasinan Brotherhood-USA a 501(c)(3), and in cooperation with the Philippine Trade & Investment Center-Los Angeles, EC Ferrer, CHB Inc., Provenance Holdings Corporation dba PLANET63 and Health Evolution, LLC have teamed up to put together an event for the purpose of promoting Philippine-made products globally.

This event invites wholesalers, distributors, importers, retailers and anyone who is considering establishing an e-commerce business. This event hopes to bring attention to the many well-crafted, one-of-a-kind, and innovative products that are manufactured and processed in the Philippines.

The event will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and will be held at the Toyota Auto Museum in the City of Torrance. The address is 19600 Van Ness, Torrance, CA 90501.

This free seminar and showcasing event will cover topics from product sourcing, utilizing online directory portals, shipping practices such as U.S. Customs & Freight Forwarding, to creating an ecommerce website.

According to Ferdinand “Bong” Soriano, lead organizer of the event, “ a system of  “active selling/promotion” has to be created to consistently promote Philippine products. Data from these type of events are critical to the Philippine manufacturers. It gives them a perspective in how they will enter the US market and beyond. Also, Mike Pestano of Health Evolution, LLC  stated “ there is a tremendous importance in creating engaged social media communities and a robust e-commerce website”.

There has already been a great amount of attention regarding products from China. This is a chance to truly focus on the great products of the  Philippines manufacturers. The products range from electronics, coconut products, jewelry, clothing, furniture, food and beverages, etc.  Pangasinan Brotherhood-USA along with Provenance Holdings Corporation dba PLANET63 created and initiated this project in an attempt to create opportunities for small to midsized Philippine manufacturers to promote their products in the United States and beyond. Also, an avenue or a series of marketing activities are being created to consistently provide “active” selling that would help keep a “top-of-mind” awareness of Philippine products in the United States and beyond.

Provenance Holdings Corp dba PLANET63’s will spearhead the activities in the coming months  that will bring attention to Philippine products as a whole. Provenance Holdings Corporation will be organizing future trade expos focused solely on Philippine products and supplementary content such as YouTube shows that will add to the awareness. Provenance Holdings Corporation dba PLANET63 is an International Trade Management and Marketing Company located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Please visit FACEBOOK page: PLANET63 to register or email us at planet63info@gmail.com to reserve your space.

How many “stuck” opportunities are you struggling with right now?

I’m talking about prospects who don’t reply to your emails or return your calls. You hate to be a pest, but what else can you do? Losing momentum is a deal killer that isn’t helped by constantly “checking in” or “circling back.”

The only way to accelerate buying decisions on a consistent basis is to prevent opportunities from stalling in the first place.

Here’s how to make that happen:

Port of Oakland export rally rolls into fifth-straight month

May containerized export volume up 5.1 percent; biggest total since Oct. 2014

Oakland, Calif. – June 9, 2016: It’s official: a containerized export rally is underway at the Port of Oakland.  The Port reported today that export volume increased 5.1 percent in May over the same period a year ago.  It was the fifth-straight month of export gains in Oakland and the highest volume in 17 months.

The Port said that it shipped the equivalent of 83,969 loaded 20-foot export containers last month.  That was the most since October 2014 when it shipped 86,065 boxes.  The Port said that a slightly weaker dollar has contributed to the export rally.  As the dollar’s value declines, U.S. goods become more affordable overseas.

“Export cargo is critical to our success,” said Maritime Director John Driscoll.  “So naturally we’re encouraged by what we’ve seen so far in 2016.”

Oakland cargo volume traditionally has been weighted more toward exports than imports.  Exports accounted for 52 percent of Oakland’s loaded container volume in 2016 through May, the Port reported.

The Port said that year-to-date, Oakland export volume has increased 13.6 percent over 2015.  Import volume is up, too, increasing 12.3 percent so far this year, the Port said.  May imports increased 3 percent from May 2015 totals.

The Port’s total container volume is up 8.4 percent so far this year.  Total volume includes loaded import and export containers as well as empty containers.

About the Port of Oakland:

The Port of Oakland oversees the Oakland seaport, Oakland International Airport, and 20 miles of waterfront. Together with its business partners, the Port supports more than 73,000 jobs in the region and nearly 827,000 jobs across the United States. Connect with the Port of Oakland and Oakland International Airport through Facebook, or with the Port on Twitter, YouTube, and at www.portofoakland.com.

Export Credit Insurance FAQs (featured 12/15 : SBOutreach@exim.gov)Q: Is Export Credit Insurance cost-prohibitive for small businesses?
A: Depending on an exporter’s needs and risk exposure, costs may vary from $0.55 to $1.77 per every $100 of invoice value [1]. Our most popular product Express Insurance, for example, allows the exporter to pay $0.65 per every $100 of invoice value for credit terms up to 60 days. For a shipment of $10,000 to a foreign buyer, the premium due is  just $65 ($10,000 x .0065).If you want to find out more about Exim Program contact an EXIM export finance specialist directly.
